Quotes of the Day

"To improve relations, what needs to change is not the United States. What needs to change is Cuba."

President George W Bush, arguing that Fidel Castro "is still influencing events from behind the scenes" - and confirming no change to the US commercial and trade embargo.

"I've noticed a lot of changes in Cuba."

A very different take from European Union Aid Commissioner Louis Michel, speaking to reporters during his visit to Havana over the weekend.

Dear Anonymous,
if the Europeans are sophisticated and smart, they surely did not show it when they killed each other in the millions not too long ago in two world wars alone in the last Century. Well, so much for smart and sophisticated.
Lucky for them, it took millions of those fat, lazy and war like ignorant Americans to save their asses two times during such wars from their own sophistication, intelligence and culture. But what is a little world history compared to your own ignorance.
And last, it would take a very sophisticated and smart European to find anywhere in the world map the country you have very smartly called "Austrilia".

Australia owes its present safety and freedom also to the blood shed and the sacrifices made by thousands of Philipinos and Americans in 1941-1942 when they held the Japanese Army at bay in Bataan and Corregidor for a few months at a terrible cost of lives, which resulted in a postponement by Japan of the planned invasion of that country.
Many new Australians should read their past history to be better informed and to see who were their friends in times of need, such as in a war that threatened their existence and way of life.
