Cuba: No Surprises, No Losers

Headline in The New York Times, reporting on the results of Sunday’s parliamentary “elections” in Cuba. As the paper points out, 614 candidates were nominated for 614 seats in the National Assembly – and nobody lost.

Well, how COULD they lose, if there were no alternative or opposing candidates? Can everybody spell F-A-R-C-E? Any Western media report that treated this charade as even remotely legitimate or meaningful is either cretinous or perverse.
