Situation normal. Not.

The Cuban media, which is tightly controlled by the regime, continues to paint a picture of absolute calm and normalcy in Cuba, three days after it was announced that Fidel Castro was handing over power to his brother Raul due to illness.

Situation normal? Maybe not.

The official Cuban news agency (there is no other type), has just announced in a brief, two paragraph statement that the Havana Carnival, which was due to to kick off this weekend, has been cancelled until further notice.

The statement, which you can read here (in Spanish) does not give any explanation for the cancellation, but promises those who had purchased tickets to watch the parade that they will be entitled to a refund.
